INTRODUCTORY AUTOCAD

DESCRIPTION:
This is a hands-on introduction to AutoCAD, Release 2000 for Windows. AutoCAD is the dominant Computer-Aided Design and Drafting program in the world. The course will utilize lectures, hands-on demonstrations and lab exercises to familiarize participants with the basic AutoCAD commands and menuing systems. The course covers commands relevant two-dimensional drafting techniques. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to begin productive applications of AutoCAD for 2D design projects and will be qualified to enroll in the Working Drawings and Advanced AutoCAD 3D courses.

CLASS OBJECTIVES:
An introductory level course for professional designers, architects, engineers and others seeking job transition and professional advancement through acquiring computer design skills. By the conclusion of this class, participants will be able to apply AutoCAD for 2D design projects and will be qualified to enroll in the working drawings and three-dimensional (3D) AutoCAD classes.

COURSE FORMAT:
This course is being taught in a combined lecture/lab environment. The majority of the time, the student will be working on the computer. A typical class period will involve the instructor's direct prompting the students on the computer through a series of steps until thorough comprehension of and execution of that command is demonstrated.
